Senior Physician Section Now Open

Senior Physician Section Now Open
Last year, the Tennessee Medical Association's House of Delegates voted to approve Resolution 4-24 which establishes a Senior Physician Section (SPS) to encourage the ongoing involvement of members over the age of 65.
In October 2024, the Board of Trustees approved governing principles to guide the establishment and operations of the Section, and in May the initial slate of physician volunteers were appointed to serve on its governing council.
The section is now open to all TMA members over the age of 65.
To participate, the Board established an initial fee of $300. Dues-exempt members are asked to contribute this amount to help establish the Section and support its activities. Members in active or part-time practice who qualify for the Section's age requirement and pay annual dues may join with no additional dues required. Participation in the Section is completely voluntary and will not impact membership status with TMA.
The Board has specified that at least 100 members must sign up for the Section to be considered active. The deadline to join is December 31, 2025.
Dues-exempt members interested in participating in the newly formed Senior Physician Section may make an initial contribution, while dues-paying members may submit a brief interest form. Once the eligibility criteria are satisfied, names will automatically be added to the list of participants. Members will be notified once the 100-member threshold has been reached.
