TMA joins with States to Petition Senate on cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Medical Student Debts
The Tennessee Medical Association (TMA) joined over 40 states on Tuesday in signing a letter urging the U.S. Senate to reject the damaging cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and medical student loan programs.
In the letter, the Coalition of State Medical Associations emphasized the harm these cuts will have for all Americans and presented the following recommendations:
- Eliminate provider tax cuts
- Reduce work requirement administrative red-tape
- Reverse the student loan cuts the exacerbate physician shortages
- Increase Medicare physician payment and seniors' ability to access timely care

TMA will continue to monitor this story.
