TMA Statement on ACIP Dismissal

TMA Statement on ACIP Dismissal
On Friday, June 13, TMA issued the following statement on Secretary Kennedy's dismissal of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices:
The Tennessee Medical Association (TMA) expresses concern over the recent dismissal of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), an independent panel of fully vetted, nonpartisan experts that helped protect public health and prevent the spread of infectious disease. The sudden removal of this advisory body will undermine public confidence in the efficacy and safety of immunizations and increase scrutiny of clinical expertise.
The TMA remains committed to promoting evidence-based policies that protect the health and safety of Tennesseans. We look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with elected officials and the public to reaffirm scientific integrity and public trust in immunizations.
On Wednesday, June 18, TMA joined nearly 100 other healthcare organizations in a letter authored by the American Medical Association urging Secretary Kennedy to reinstate the panel. Read the letter here.
