This presentation will provide an overview of state efforts to combat stigma surrounding physician mental health through legislative reform, wellness initiatives and supportive tools. Participants will review recent changes in Tennessee statutes that encourage help-seeking behavior while safeguarding patient care, examine outcome and survey data from the Tennessee Medical Foundation (TMF), and learn about the TN-PSQ wellness tool and other resources aimed at reducing burnout and suicide risk among physicians.

Learning Objectives:

• Review key Tennessee statutes and changes that address mental health disclosures for physicians, with a focus on how legislative changes are reducing stigma while protecting patients.
• Present current outcome data of past TMF participants and survey data of current TMF participants.
• Discuss the TN-PSQ wellness tool utilization that empowers physicians to seek help and reduce stigma, burnout, and risk for suicide.  Present other wellness tools that component medical societies are using.
